So you are ready to buy a product on line and you start filling in your credit card information and all of the sudden everything pops up before you even finish typing your name. If this has ever happened to you, your credit card information is stored somewhere on your computer! Google (Toolbar), AOL (Toolbar), Microsoft (Toolbar), Mozilla (Toolbar) have all created and distributed software that saves your credit card information on your computer for your online shopping convince. I for one don’t like the idea of my credit card info being stored anywhere but in my pocket, on a plastic card!
Don’t panic yet. Generally these programs (at least the ones from the big guys like Google) are very, very well protected so you can rest fairly assured everything is safe. It would reflect very poorly on them to have something as serious as leaked credit card information on their plate. That aside, that’s still not good enough for me. I would rather type my information in myself each time I buy something!
Ok, so let’s remove this stored credit card information from our computer! First we are going to do a fairly massive cleanup to our computer. Not only are we going to get rid of all of the stored credit card information, we will clean out all the temporary and useless junk that is slowing our computer down. We will do this with a tool called CCleaner, arguably the most powerful “spring cleaning” tool available for windows. Rather than having you read about the process, let me show you each step. Check out this video that shows you the entire process.
Alright, if that didn’t work, let’s clean out the Google Toolbar which may also be the culprit.
