Maui Homes and Condos WiFi Flaws

Maui is high tech.  There is no way to deny it!  We were one of the last to get high speed Internet (remember the Dial-Up days?  *shiver*) and because we had to wait we ended up with some of the really cool new (fast) technology!  (Good things come to those who wait right?)

None the less, with the introduction of high speed Internet it was just a matter of time until wireless routers for laptops and palmtop devices were to start flying off the shelves at Costco and Walmart.

Lets take a look at the map below (if you gave it enough time to load that is…)  Each point is a unique wireless network (you will see some interesting names in there.) A green mark indicates an open (not-protected) network and red marks indicate that the network is protected with some sort of encryption.  You will notice that it is about 50/50 in Kihei.  Most Wailea homes and Wailea condos wireless networks are open at a rate of about 70 open for ever 30 closed.  Tisk…Tisk…

Secure your networks.  If you need help give me a call!  The map above can be generated by anyone with a GPS device and a laptop (or anyone with a Google G1 Android cell phone or an iPhone.  That means millions of people…)

Friends With Websites!

A few friends of mine have been working on their websites and I wanted to show them off.  They are both WordPress based and decked out on features.

The first site belongs to Nicole Sanchez who happens to be a Maui wedding photographer.  Her site is looking great and the use of photos, slide-shows, testimonials and image galleries truly look great!

The second site I wanted to show off belongs to Robert Plotnik the owner of Grace Recording Studio, a Maui Hawaii recording studio.  The audio/video features are top notch (what else would you expect from such a high end analog/digital studio?) and the blog is loaded with useful content.

More changes to come I’m sure!  I wish them both luck with their websites and their businesses!

A Very WINDY Maui…

Usually after a series of very windy days I’ll get a few calls regarding heat related computer problems.  Keep your compters and floors clean while the wind is up throwing around all that nasty iron dust.

If you leave your computer on 24/7 you may want to consider turning it off while your not using it for the next few windy days.
