Isn't computer repair in Kihei the same as the rest of the island "tech wise?"
Oddly enough, repairing a computer in Kihei is usually much different from anywhere else on Maui. Be prepared for lots of red Kihei dust! While repairing Kihei's computers it is very common to run across computers with failed power supplies, clogged fans and even eroded parts! Yep, our dust has lots of iron in it which in turn eats through protective layers of electronics.
Is there anything I can do to keep my Kihei Computer in good shape?
Absolutely, keep it clean! If your fortunate enough to have air conditioning your off to a great start in keeping your PC clean. Here are some tricks for the rest of us:
1) Keep the computer off of the floor. Most dust is sucked up by fans directly from the floor! Simply raise it a foot or so to see a huge difference in dust collection. This simple change can help prevent an impending repair!
2) Cover your computer when it's not in use. A simple sheet when your computer isn't in use can keep dust out! Make sure you remove the cover before you use it though or you risk over heating!
3) Unplug your computer when you're not using it. Maui Electric Company is pretty hard on computers. This will also save you money from the power your PC uses even when it's turned off! Unfortunately MECO won't repair your computer for you after they destroy it. Make sure you have a good surge protector also!
4) Clean it out! Compressed air works wonders, if you have an air compressor even better! Be careful not to touch anything inside with anything but air. You wouldn't want to fry it!
5) Check out my blog and implement any of the dozens of tips you can find there.
