Maui SEO and Internet Marketing: CompMaui

Have you recently seen some very “official” looking popups telling you that you need to buy MS AntiSpyware 2009 or MS AntiVirus 2009?  DON’T FALL FOR THIS SCAM!

MS AntiSpyware 2009 and MS AntiVirus 2009 are infact virus’.  They trick users into purchasing an update (Usually for over $100) that will “remove” the virus causing the popups.  This is bogus!

I just got my 15th call from MAUI residents today regarding this virus.  Unfortunatly 3 of my customers were tricked into purchasing the fraudulent software and now have to keep a close eye on their credit.

So how do you fix it?

The Hard Way:

Check out this Bleeping Computer post.  You will need to install Malwarebytes Anti-malware and let it clean out your system.  You then need to update everything and completely secure your computer to prevent it from being reinstalled.  It’s time consuming but you can do it!

The Easy Way:
